photomatopoeia

pho•to•mat•o•poe•ia | ˌfotoˌmatəˈpēə |

noun
the image of a subject associated with what is photographed

Words certainly evoke the imagination, yet it is photography that evokes emotion. With the idea of experiencing photography, I want to change the conversation from the technical to the emotional side of what makes a good picture. Ultimately, we photograph to record the human condition, and without emotion, it’s just another picture in the sea of a trillion photos.

  8. A Mother’s Kiss - This is my wife’s self-portrait with our daughter last night. One of the things that seem to have been important to our children was to have time for a snuggle before bed. They go to sleep faster and are so much more at peace at bedtime after a snuggle. (Lisa Gsellman/photomatopoeia)

  13. Cloudy Heart - Today, in the Pacific NW, was a beautiful day of clear blue skies, sunshine and warmth. But today was not one of those days for me, until I got to be with my “green eyes” and we ate and talked as the sun set. Tomorrow will be even brighter now.
