photomatopoeia

pho•to•mat•o•poe•ia | ˌfotoˌmatəˈpēə |

noun
the image of a subject associated with what is photographed

Words certainly evoke the imagination, yet it is photography that evokes emotion. With the idea of experiencing photography, I want to change the conversation from the technical to the emotional side of what makes a good picture. Ultimately, we photograph to record the human condition, and without emotion, it’s just another picture in the sea of a trillion photos.

  1. A Mother’s Kiss - This is my wife’s self-portrait with our daughter last night. One of the things that seem to have been important to our children was to have time for a snuggle before bed. They go to sleep faster and are so much more at peace at bedtime after a snuggle. (Lisa Gsellman/photomatopoeia)

  2. Hammocks - The quintessential object of rest and relaxation. Of course, having one on the beach helps that even more. This is where I live to live.

  3. Wanting Summer - This cold and rain is really making me think about the warm Summers here in Indianola. I just can’t wait and I need it now.
